Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is a country in Oceania, occupying the eastern half of the island of New Guinea and numerous offshore islands. Its capital city is Port Moresby. Papua New Guinea is mostly mountainous (highest peak: Mount Wilhelm at 4509 m) and mostly covered with tropical rainforest, as well as very large wetland areas surrounding the Sepik and Fly rivers. Papua New Guinea is surrounded by coral reefs which are under close watch to preserve them. |

Most of Papua New Guinea has a hot and humid tropical climate. Average daytime temperatures in the lowlying areas hoover around 30 °C during the day and 23 °C at night. |

Large rainforest is home to many rare species of birds and insects. The country is famous for its many beautiful orchids. More than 3000 species are unique to the country – over two thirds of the world's known species – and new varieties are still being discovered. |

Papua New Guinea possesses some of the best dive spots in the world. About twice the amount of fish species as compared to the Red Sea, and roughly ten times as many species of corals are found here compared to the Caribbean. |
